Hitman #22

This is the first comic in Wizard's Top 100 that I had already read before because I was reading that series (I had read Uncanny X-Men #268 but it had already been established as an important comic by the time it was given to me). Hitman, in general, is a great comic that combines a wicked sense of humor, action and rich characters. This issue, perhaps more than any of the others, really highlights that dark humor.

The very premise strikes one as absurd, Tommy and Natt have been hired on Christmas Eve to kill a radioactive Santa Claus. Adding to the absurdity, the hilarious captions are all written in a rhyme with a style akin to something out of a heroin-fueled Dr. Suess-like dream.

I'm not sure this is one of the best single issues ever but it is a delight to read and especially after reading Demo #3 and Animal Man #15, it certainly is nice to have a light-hearted break.
